Housekeeping can be made easy by organising tasks and priorities making your weekly cleaning easy and enjoyable. You must create a schedule to prevent yourself from spending your entire day of your weekend cleaning. This is critical as occasionally get lost and end up spending extra hours to get the job done. By following a schedule the chances of cancelling on your social meet with your friends will reduce.
Organising: Create a schedule which works well with you. Different schedules work with different individuals.
A popular cleaning schedule starts with:
Dusting: This is the best way to start your schedule by using a microfibre cloth or duster. Dusting helps remove impurities from surfaces and the excess can be allowed to settle on the floor. Using a microfibre cloth is essential as it can hold 7 times the water when compared to a normal cloth however, the most useful part is the way microfibre can pick up bacteria from dirty surfaces. You can also add window cleaning to this task as it relates by removing dust and marks from glass surfaces.
Surfaces: Cleaning surfaces must be the next move. This can be done by regularly dipping the micro fibre into hot water and wiping down the surfaces. The dirty cloth must be rinsed and squeezed using a bowl of warm water. Now the surfaces need to be sprayed by a surface cleaning liquid eg: Dettol surface cleaning spray to remove the germs and bacteria and also giving you a smoother and fresher surface. Surface must include desks, chairs, kitchen surfaces, living room surfaces including tables, side tables and also toilets surfaces such as sink, toilet, bathtub etc.
Floor: Based on how much rubbish is accumulated on the floor. You can either use a broom & dustpan to collect the paper balls and wrappers on the floor or if you don’t have any large items, it’s time to bring out your vacuum cleaner. If you’ve got a Henry which is a classic vacuum cleaner in British households, it’s time to bring it out! Clean the floor with your henry and for carpet areas make sure to go through it multiple times slowly until you make sure your carpet is completely sanitised.
Mop & dry: This is for individuals who have got tiled or wooden flooring. Must use hot water mixed with floor cleaner (Recommended – Cif floor cleaner). Dab your mop into the hot water and squeeze into your mop bucket to remove the extra water and go through the entire floor including kitchen and toilet. Wash out the dirty water and wash the mop bucket and mop. Introduce fresh hot water with floor cleaner and repeat the process again.
You will now have a sparkling clean environment which makes your soul feel fresh and energised helping you make the most out of your upcoming week.
